Donald Lee Young

Donald Lee Young, age 87, of Springfield went to be with his Savior on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Villa of Springfield. He was born April 14th, 1933 in Urbana, Ohio the son of Emanuel D. and Mildred S. (Parker) Young.
Don graduated from Urbana High School. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Navistar where he worked for 38 years. Don was very talented at woodworking and could fix or build anything. He loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his children: Diahann (Anthony) Blackburn, Donna (Mark) Effingham and Jeff Young; his grandchildren: Melissa (Derek) Remley, Kristy Aliff, Anthony Blackburn II, Marcus McCormick, Drew Blackburn and Malique Blackburn and ten great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Young; a daughter, Denise Aliff; two brothers: Richard & David Young and a sister, Betty Tackett.
A private memorial service celebrating Donald’s life will be held with livestreaming on Monday, November 16th, 2020 at 4:00 by visiting www.saintjohnmbc.org
A special thanks to the staff at Villa of Springfield that cared for Don during his transition especially his grandson, Anthony Blackburn,II who was by his side as he went home to be with the Lord. The compassion shown will never be forgotten.
